Our mission at Hosston Alternative School is to connect learing to life and to create productive citizens.  The vision of the faculty and staff of Hosston Alternative is to enable students to become responsible, contributing members of the society in several ways, some of which include:  fostering the concept that all learning is tied to our students' futures and the real world; encouraging continous educational opportunities; involving students, parents, staff, community, and administration in a cooperative endeavor to help students achieve; and providing a safe, nurturing environment and a clean attractive physical school conducive to attaining our goals.

Hosston Alternative is a school of many colors.  We serve students in the northern part of Caddo Parish, from Shreveport to Rodessa and everything in between.  We offer several programs such as CLP (CAPT), Pre-GED/Options, and 8th Grade Transition, along with the Alternative program.  Entry into these programs is based on a counselor referral and an interview process.

Hosston Alternative School is a Title I school and receives funding for many programs for our students.  Because of this funding, every classroom at our school is equipped with computers that students have access to on a daily basis.  Installed on these computers are programs such as FASTTMATH, ODYSSEY, and COMPASS which teachers use as re-enforcements to the lessons that are being taught each day.
